![]() If you have quite a few holes to drill, you may also want to consider creating a small template with a small block of wood. Not only does this tell you where to drill but it also helps with the drilling as the masking tape gives the drill bit something to grip onto while drilling. Use masking tape to make X marks on the tile. Grab that measuring tape and mark the spots of where you want to drill holes in. The first step in drilling your bathroom tile is to measure. ![]() This task may seem daunting at first but we are here to show you how it is done. However, if your tiles are metal and slate, this drill bit would work fine and give a clean enough finish as these tiles can grip to the drill bit better than other types of bathroom tiles Drilling through bathroom tiles These drill bits will shatter the tiles easily if you are working with porcelain and natural stone tiles. These tips will make your drilling job a lot messier than it needs to be. Metal drill bits or also known as wide angle drill bits are not suitable for a lot of ceramic work. The drilling job would be a tad messier than if you used a carbide tip as carbide tends to make sharp punctures throughout the tile.Īlso Read: How to Drill Concrete Without Hammer Drill Can I use a metal drill bit on tiles? If the tile is not glazed however, then the carbide tipped is optional. At minimum the tile needs to be carbide or diamond tipped to even consider drilling glazed bathroom tiles. Especially if you are dealing with porcelain tiles using these drill bits on them will be a nightmare as you will watch your drill slide around the tile and possibly injure yourself while trying to do so. Unfortunately, masonry/ concrete drill bits are not fit for this job as they are not strong enough to penetrate the bathroom tiles without causing any cracks in your tiles. However, if the ceramic is glaze then I highly recommend using the tile drill bit instead to avoid slippage unless this bit is also carbide tipped like the tile bitĬan I use masonry/concrete drill bit on tiles? Spearpoint drill bitĪ great alternative to the carbide drill bit, it has a spear tip to ensure precise drilling so that you do not damage the glass or ceramic completely. Here is another good set specially for tiles. ![]() The downside is that it does take a lot more elbow grease to make nice clean holes. This tip can smash through the glaze layer and the tip has gripping properties that allow for clean finishes. This tip comes with a carbide finish, meaning it has carbon and another metal mixed into it. This drill bit is ideal for drilling a hole into all kinds of ceramic tiles. This would be ideal for metal tiles after using the twist bit Tile drill bits This tip is optional if you want to make your holes bigger but unless you’re installing something huge, I do not think you need it. ![]() This one is responsible for polishing and expanding the size of the hole after the initial drill. This drill bit works on metal and wood also. I would only recommend this drill bit if your ceramic tile is not glazed and you do not wish to spend a few dollars for better drill bit meant for ceramics Step drill bit This drill bit is equivalent to the one size fits all approach, meaning it is very versatile but the quality of drilling might not be that great. This the standard drill bit that everyone gets when you buy a drill. I’ll give a run down of which which bits are suitable for bathroom tiles Twist drill bit With this in mind, you will need carbide-tipped (or diamond) drill bits in order to work with ceramic as there is a lot of science involved but I won’t bore you to death with that until later on if you truly are curious about the properties of a carbide-tipped drill bit. Your drill will end up sliding around and at its worst, you can definitely injure yourself if you do not use the drill properly. This is because the outermost layer is a glaze that makes the surface smooth and slippery. If you choose any other drill bit like a twist one that is designed for wood and metals, you will have an extremely hard time trying to make a hole in bathroom tiles. The only downside is that diamond drill bits can cost twice as much as carbide drill bits. Normally, if your bathroom tile is glazed then a carbide tip will not be as effective as a diamond tipped drill bit. Whenever it comes to bathroom tile drilling, depending on how smooth the surface is, a carbide tipped drill bit shall suffice or a diamond tipped drill bit as it can literally drill through anything.

![]() ![]() His current calf strain definitely heightens those concerns moving forward, although if this injury sidelines him it will likely be for a short period of time. He is no doubt the heartbeat of this team. We witnessed firsthand how important he is to this team, both on the field and in the locker room. It is a bit scary to think about life without Dak after we all saw that picture in 2020. In fact, if he’s forced into the starting role that’s a pretty significant downgrade for the Dallas Cowboys at the QB position. No offense to Rush, but he is in no way close to being as good as No. If, for whatever reason, this calf injury sidelines Prescott, the Cowboys would be forced to start either Cooper Rush or Will Grier in his place, most likely Rush. And, that brings us to the other concern, the backup QB position.Īs things stand right now, Cooper Rush is the next man up if anything were happen to Dak Prescott. Neither they, nor Dak Prescott, know how this injury will respond with a little extra time to rest and recuperate. Right now, it’s a wait-and-see approach during the bye week for the Dallas Cowboys. Will this calf strain cause him to miss time? Will it be an injury that lingers throughout the season? The jury is still out on the seriousness of the injury, however, it does raise some concerns moving forward.įirst and foremost, the biggest concern is Dak Prescott’s health and availability as the season progresses. On the game-clinching touchdown to CeeDee Lamb in overtime, Dak Prescott came down a little awkwardly, straining his right calf muscle. For the Cowboys' sake, he'll hopefully land a haymaker against the Chargers. The Dallas Cowboys may have escaped New England with the victory, but sadly they didn’t escape unscathed. Will Grier didn't even have to throw a punch to win the first one. Now you get the sense that they have equal claims on the role. The feeling going into camp was that Will would have to oust Rush from the QB2 position. Still, with Grier already getting hype going into last night, the Broncos game only moved the needle more in his direction. They haven't forgotten how he performed last year in Minnesota, helping the Cowboys win a critical regular-season game with Dak Prescott missing. Dallas isn't going to dump Cooper Rush based on one bad night playing with backups. That said, it's probably too soon to start calling the backup QB job Grier's to lose. How he performs in Los Angeles next Saturday night will be one of the most-discussed stories from that game. ![]() Had Grier played last night, who knows? Maybe the penalties, poor protection, and dropped passes still happen and he would've looked as ineffective as Rush.īut now, instead of being seen as part of the problem, Grier goes into next week as a hoped-for solution. It also helps that he's been getting a lot of praise in camp from his coaches and has been involved in some highlight moments from practices. With other options not inspiring confidence, the mystery behind Grier is now increasing his perceived value. He was claimed off waivers during final cuts in 2021 and remained sidelined all season behind Prescott and Rush. Remember, Grier has never thrown a pass for the Cowboys even in preseason games. The focus is now on Will Grier and what the former 3rd-round pick can do when we finally see him on the field. While we have to remember that he was playing against the Broncos' third-tier talent, DiNucci was also playing with the Cowboys' lesser offensive linemen and receivers and still provided a spark.īut while DiNucci showed some moxie, nobody's clamoring for him to be QB2 going forward. It didn't help when Ben DiNucci entered the game in the 3rd quarter and helped get Dallas its only touchdown of the night. While the Cowboys' offense woes were multi-faceted, Rush looked uncomfortable and didn't provide the stabilizing presence you'd want from a sixth-year veteran. Instead, we got a heavy dose of Cooper Rush last night and nobody's feeling great about it this morning. Grier was also held out of action due to a groin injury suffered earlier in the week but was a game-time decision, meaning he'll hopefully play in next Saturday's meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. With Dak Prescott among the many starters who didn't suit up in Denver, the night belonged to the backups. But for Will Grier, a candidate to be the Dallas Cowboys' backup quarterback in 2022, not playing last night may have only strengthened his position. Sitting out of a preseason game is usually detrimental to a player fighting for a job. Surtz, a learned professor of literature, did distinguish between More and his characters, and he agreed with Chambers that Utopia is the best state possible if one would rely on reason alone. Hexter never distinguished between the characters and the author of Utopia, and he considered the Utopians to be true Christians. Hexter, a historian, took Utopia more literally than Chambers. Chambers’ classic position that Utopia satirized the abuses in Europe by presenting a serious political ideal. Both, in wholly different ways, developed R.W. ![]() But before looking for the basis of this current view of More, let’s turn to a brief review of Utopian criticism as it has developed over the last forty years.ĭuring the 1950s and 1960s, J.H. Hexter and Edward Surtz, S.J., were the two most noted interpreters on Utopia. Accordingly, they were asked to edit and translate the Yale edition of Utopia, published in 1965. They explain Utopia as an attempt by More “to resolve the contradictions of his own divided impulses’’ or as an example of More’s youthful progressive spirit-a spirit that would become pathologically conservative in later life. If they do, the explanation given is psychological. Those holding the opinions just cited do not generally try to reconcile their interpretations with the corpus of More’s work or with the author’s reputation as prudent statesman, orthodox philosopher, and canonized saint. Such is the diverse opinion and confusion surrounding this little book. And the Soviets, seeing Utopia as one of the early communist prototypes, erected a monument honoring More near the center of Moscow. The Euthanasia Society of America considers the author of Uto pia as an early friend and patron of their particular cause. Many today herald Utopia as embodying “distinctively modern elements” in calling for radical political and economic reform others praise Utopia for advocating “open-ended dialogue” about fundamental ethical and political issues. This seems to be the sorry state of scholarly affairs as one turns to what is perhaps the most debated literary work of the Renaissance. In the middle are the many who do not believe truth exists and would define wisdom as a relative balance of moderate opinions. And Shakespeare is not to be studied to understand better the perennial truths of life, but as a vehicle for understanding isolated individuals who have not found it possible or necessary to confront vigorously the misconceptions and factual errors of those who blithely dismiss any one who turns to the great literature of the past for what was recognized as literature’s first and greatest function: to artfully and pleasantly teach wisdom to any who labored valiantly enough to acquire it. ![]() Thomas Cromwell, for example, becomes “the most remarkable statesman of the sixteenth century,” while Thomas More becomes a self-seeking and deceitful villain. These revisionists are having a dramatic effect on the commonplace understanding of the Renaissance, introducing as they have a whole new cast of heroes in an attempt to dethrone the old. Basic to this revision is the elimination of “nature” in favor of cultural fabrications of power they would also eliminate allusions to the soul in favor of assumptions concerning the historically conditioned self. On the one side are the few but well organized and well-positioned revisionists and New Historicists who wish to give validity to their radical revision of “values,” human nature, and political life. Anyone who has been a part of Renaissance literary studies over the last ten years realizes that the Renaissance has become a battleground of intense scholarly interest. “The struggle is not merely over an isolated work of genius but over a whole culture”-so says Stephen Greenblatt about Thomas More’s Utopia. By thinking through the limits and possibilities of political life, as presented in “Utopia,” the careful reader imitates Cicero and Thomas More by preparing for politics through the careful study of great literature. ![]() Follow her on Instagram and Post on Food Facebook. You are also wholly reliant on a robust network infrastructure for your GeForce Now experience. That, unfortunately makes it a rather more volatile game library than we'd want, or than you'd get from a local system, whether console or PC. I like the kicking of balls, and also the theory behind the kicking of balls, yet neither FIFA nor Football Manager are available over GeForce Now.īut there are still thousands of games on the platform, it's just that there may well be certain titles you are particularly wedded to that will never find a streaming home with Nvidia's service. There are also some games that never made it to GeForce Now for whatever reason you'll not find two of my most-played games there either. Case in point being Rockstar-it removed all its games from GeForce Now when it tied Red Dead Redemption 2 exclusively with Stadia You'd still own the game on PC, if you had a system that could run it, but if you buy a game it's never tied to GFN. The short of it is that, though games are being added all the time, companies can pull games from the service at any point and you'd lose streaming access. Sadly that intersection doesn't encompass all your games because there has been a long publicised battle between certain devs, publishers, and Nvidia over who gets money for streaming games. The way it works is by hooking into your existing game libraries on Steam, Epic, GoG, Origin, and Ubisoft Connect, allowing you to play any game that sits in the venn diagram of games you own and games GeForce Now can stream. Though it's worth noting that, if you're connecting through a browser such as Chrome, you will still be limited to 1080p60.īut there are necessary caveats to remember when we talk about GeForce Now. GeForce Now will actually take advantage of that panel, delivering up to 1440p at 120 fps. Maybe you've got a budget machine, with a low-end discrete GPU in it-something like a GTX 1650-but with a 120Hz screen attached to it. It means that any laptop can be a powerful gaming laptop so long as its connected network is strong enough. It's also the easiest method of actually getting a reliable HDR experience from a PC game. Knocking the settings down to 1440p, however, and the game still looks incredible, and runs brilliantly on the Shield. That game is a resource hog on any system, and trying to run it at 4K with ray tracing, even with DLSS enabled, meant that frame rates weren't really high enough to deliver a latency level I was comfortable with. My upload speed is miserly, yet that still made no difference to whatever latency is lying there.Īnd Cyberpunk 2077 is now, y'know, playable at high settings, though that's one place where I definitely noticed some lag. Even streaming a 4K game across a 5GHz network I saw no hint that my 100Mbps network was struggling with the effort. With DLSS enabled the game isn't actually rendering at 3840 x 2160, but the joy of the latest version of Nvidia's upscaler is that it still looks pin-sharp outputting at a 4K resolution on a native 4K panel.Īnd it's still smooth. Suddenly my $150 Shield device is an all-conquering 4K gaming powerhouse.īut now I've gotten to test the RTX 3080 update, which has recently been made available to the London-based EU West server, and the step-up in fidelity is tangible on a 4K HDR display. Part of that silky frame rate is down to the recent addition of Adaptive Sync technology, which synchronises the delivery of individual frames from the server to the client in order to reduce buffering and dropped or repeated frames. My Shield isn't wired in, either, making it all the more impressive that it seemed as smooth and as responsive as playing on my Series X console while I was playing over a 5GHz WiFi connection. ![]() So, we have also gathered a few Eliza Scanlen bikini and swimsuit featuring Eliza Scanlen’s face and body pictures as well.Īpart from the mind-blowing images that will show you Eliza Scanlen Red carpet images, photos taken of Eliza Scanlen bikini images at the beach and those from her promotional and magazine shoots, we will also show you a few of Eliza Scanlen’s cutest pictures, hi-res wallpapers, high-quality background, and animated GIFs.
